Description

Smt. M. Varalakshmi founded the Om Shanti Nagarajan Academy in 1994, in memory of her late husband, Sri. M. Nagarajan. Although he came from humble beginnings, Sri Nagarajan was an ardent proponent of education for men and women and he himself had a degree in Law. The school was established to provide free education for underprivileged children in the neighboring areas from 1st class to 7th class with an enrollment of 300 students. The students are provided with a free meal, shoes, books and other supplies along with free education.

The Next Step Foundation based in the USA is one of the organizations supporting this school. Several local companies such as Cognizant and Novartis support the school through their corporate social responsibility programs frequently.
